One Tough Tree
Went to the desert yesterday partly to check on one of my favorite trees in the world. This guy is a Pinyon Pines (Pinus monophylla) and he has been growing aobut 250 feet up on this narrow ridge of rock ever since I have been going to Joshua Tree NP. Each year he gets just a bit bigger. This ridge of rock is close to a formation known as Lost Horse Wall, a popular site for the rock climbers. I have spent many hours here watching the climbers and admiring this tree!! This was shot with my F100 on Kodak Portra VC160 and scanned. This is untouched right out of the scanner, no color work, no crop.
